Located at 306 N. Mulberry Street, Lancaster Vegan brings fresh, made-from-scratch plant-based cuisine to an intimate, 25-seat restaurant. The highly anticipated venture marks the return of former Root chefs Tom Valentine and Ian Guyette, whose inventive vegan cooking earned them a devoted following in Lancaster's culinary community.
And honestly? You can feel that intention in everything. The space, the food, the vibe - it all says, “Stay a while.” Which is exactly what I did… and highly recommend you do too.
But there's much more to this story than what's on the menu.

Tom and Ian are artists as well as chefs, and they've made supporting Lancaster's creative community an essential part of their new venture.
Step inside Lancaster Vegan, and you'll discover a restaurant that doubles as a miniature art gallery. Framed graphic novels from the chefs' personal collections celebrate the artistry of illustration and storytelling, while original artwork adds personality, color, and a sense of discovery to nearly every corner.
The restaurant's dedicated gallery space offers something even more meaningful: an opportunity for local artists to share their work with the community.
On opening day, the space featured artwork by Tom Valentine, an established Lancaster artist whose creations have been exhibited at Lancaster Art Vault, Zoetropolis, and The Lounge at Hempfield Apothetique. Ian has contributed pieces of his own, making the restaurant a true reflection of their shared creative spirit.

More than an exhibition. An opportunity.
What began with Tom's artwork has evolved into the Lancaster Vegan First Friday Artist Showcase, a monthly exhibition featuring a different emerging artist.
And the commitment goes well beyond providing wall space.
Drawing on his own experience, Tom mentors participating artists, offering practical guidance on everything from preparing and installing an exhibition to pricing artwork, marketing, and promoting a show.
These are invaluable lessons for artists beginning to establish themselves, and Lancaster Vegan provides both a welcoming exhibition space and an opportunity to connect with new audiences.
The inaugural showcase debuted during August's First Friday with Lancaster-based visual artist Remi, whose work combines striking color, expressive movement, and playful narratives.

September welcomed local artist Steve Whitney, whose work is currently on display throughout Lancaster City Restaurant Week.
